Power Horse Stadium History
Inaugurated on July 31, 2004, and originally built for the 2005 Mediterranean Games, the stadium cost around 21 million euros, which were covered by the Almería City Council. Later it became the UD Almería stadium, replacing the Juan Rojas Municipal Stadium, the latter being used by the subsidiary.
The stadium was expanded from 15,000 to 21,350 seats after Almera’s promotion to La Liga. Since 2012, the club has used extra seats behind the goals to avoid using the part of the stadium that is furthest from the pitch. With this configuration, the capacity is reduced to 15,274. In August 2021, the Almería City Council agreed to transfer the operation of the stadium to UD Almería for a period of 25 years.
