Real Madrid accept €50m Newcastle United bid for Eden Hazard

Real Madrid has reportedly accepted a €50m (£41.7m) bid from Newcastle United for Eden Hazard; however, the winger refused a move to St James’ Park.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu, due to his disappointing spell in the Spanish capital, which has seen him fall down the pecking order behind Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Marco Asensio.

Los Blancos are believed to be prepared to let up to six first-team players leave the club in January and Hazard is a name they are willing to negotiate offers for.

According to El Nacional, Newcastle has submitted an initial offer of 40 million euros (33.3 million pounds sterling) with an additional 10 million euros (8.3 million pounds sterling), which has been accepted by the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez.

However, Hazard has no intention of leaving the club in the winter window or joining the Magpies and is prepared to serve out the remainder of his contract, which runs until June 2024.

The report adds that the Belgium international would only consider a departure if he returned to Chelsea, where he spent seven years between 2012 and 2019.

Hazard has made a total of 59 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions, scoring just five times and registering 10 assists.
