Real Madrid still in Erling Braut Haaland race?

Real Madrid still in Erling Braut Haaland race

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly still interested in signing both Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Los Blancos are believed to be the favorites to recruit Mbappe when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June, while they are also one of several clubs to fight for the signing of Haaland, who will see his 64-year release clause million pounds sterling at his Borussia. Dortmund’s contract is activated in the summer.

According to Sport, Madrid has already made an offer for the 21-year-old Norway international as they are eager to get ahead of Barcelona and Manchester City in the race to sign him.

The report adds that Los Blancos are ‘convinced’ that they can sign the striker this summer, and will probably find out in March if their search is successful, which is when the player intends to make a final decision on his future.

If Real Madrid were to sign Haaland, the report suggests they could potentially keep the youngster on loan at Dortmund until the summer of 2023, when Karim Benzema’s contract expires, before integrating him into their squad the following season.

Most likely, however, Perez wants the striker to move to the Spanish capital immediately and form a fearsome strike partnership with Mbappe.

Since he joined Dortmund in January 2020, Haaland has scored 80 goals and provided 21 assists in just 79 appearances in all competitions.
