Pachuca
Cota made his professional debut for Pachuca on September 21, 2007 against Veracruz.
Puebla
In 2014 it was announced that Cota was transferred to Puebla. He made his debut against Tijuana in a 1–0 win. In April 2015, he won the Copa MX after defeating Guadalajara.
Guadalajara
