Club Career
Porto
In Mozelos (Santa Maria da Feira), Aveiro District, Neves was a fan of FC Porto and joined the youth section of the club when he was eight. In his time at an academy club, he had a stint as a loan player at Padroense which was the team for under-16s. During his time with the youth teams and the reserve team, director Luis Castro described him as a player who has “extraordinary mental qualities, to go along with technical and tactical skills”.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
On the 8th of July, 2017 Neves joined EFL Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed amount which is believed to be in the area of $15.8 million, an unbeatable club and league cost. After joining, he was joined by the former Porto manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The first time Rúben Neves scored a goal was on August 15 in a 3-2 win away against Hull City.
