Shaqiri was born in Gjilan, SFR Yugoslavia, to Kosovar Albanian parents. She immigrated to Switzerland in 1992 with her parents and three brothers. Xherdan Shaqiri Club Career

FC Basel

Shaqiri started his career at his hometown club SV Augst and, at the age of eight, he was recruited by FC Basel. While playing for Basel’s youth team, he competed in the 2007 Nike U-15 Cup and was named the tournament’s best player. Despite several other clubs trying to sign him, he decided to stay at Basel, where he played for their reserve team from 2007 to 2009 in the Swiss 1. Liga.
