Muric was called up by Montenegro U21 on August 22, 2017, for both the friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 and Kazakhstan U21 in preparation for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He was picked to the starting lineup for a friendly encounter against Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 fourteen days later, when he made his Montenegro U21 debut.
He competed for Montenegro U21 in both games, and he was dismissed after collecting consecutive red cards—one against Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 for handling the ball beyond the area and another against Slovenia U21 for headbutting an opponent. He had before stated that he would play for Montenegro after being passed over for the senior team, but he decided to represent Kosovo instead.

Muric opted to play for the Kosovo national team following several months of negotiations, the Football Federation of Kosovo declared on August 26, 2018.
