The team colors are yellow and blue. As a result, the most frequently used nickname by the clubs is Giallo Blu, literally “yellow-blue” in Italian. The colors represent the city itself, and Verona’s emblem (a yellow cross on a blue shield) appears on most of the team’s clothing. The home kits are traditionally blue, sometimes a shade of navy blue, combined with yellow detailing and trim, although the club has used a blue and yellow striped design on occasion. Two more nicknames for the team are Mastini (the mastiffs) and Scaligeri, both references to the Mastino I della Scala of the Della Scala princes who ruled the city during the 13th and 14th centuries.
