Born in Brazil, Jorginho moved to Italy at the age of 15 and began his professional career with the Verona youth team, before moving up to the senior team. During the 2010-11 season, he was loaned out to Sambonifacese.

2018-19 season

On July 14, 2018, Jorginho signed for English club Chelsea on a five-year contract on the same day Sarri was hired at the club. He joined for a £50m transfer fee with £7m in potential add-ons and was assigned the number 5 shirt. According to Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis, he previously came close to joining Manchester City. 2022-23 season

Jorginho joined Arsenal on 31 January 2023 for a fee of £12 million, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract with an option for a further year. He made his debut on 4 February as a 59th-minute substitute in Arsenal’s 1–0 loss to Everton.
