Club Career
Sheffield United
Walker joined Sheffield United, his boyhood club when he was seven years old. He was recommended by Paul Archer, Football Unites, Racism Divides, and climbed the ranks to be a regular fixture of the reserves in 2008. Walker was granted a one-month loan by League One club Northampton Town in November 2008. He made his debut against Oldham Athletic on November 15, 2008. After playing nine matches for the Cobblers, his one-month loan was extended to January.
Walker made his Sheffield United debut on 13 January 2009 shortly after his return to his parent club. He started in a third-round FA Cup match against Leyton Orient.
Tottenham Hotspur
Walker, along with Kyle Naughton, left Sheffield United on 22 July 2009 to join Tottenham Hotspur. They paid a combined fee of PS9 million. However, Walker was loaned back from United for the duration 2009-10 season. Walker was almost always present at right back at Bramall Lane for the first half season. However, he was unexpectedly recalled to Spurs on February 1, 2010, just before the end of the January 2010 transfer window. Alan Hutton had been loaned to Sunderland. Walker made his Tottenham debut on Saturday 27 March 2010 in a 2-0 win over Portsmouth. He went on to make another league appearance that season.

International career
Walker had never made a league appearance for Sheffield United before he was called up to England’s U19s in February 2009. Walker made his debut in the Premier League on February 10, playing as a substitute for the second half against Spain U19s. Walker was called up to England’s full squad in February 2011, and again in March 2011. Walker was not able to play in any of the matches and was removed from the squad in March because of an injury.
Walker was selected to the England team that participated in the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship competition.
In June 2019, he scored his own goal against the Netherlands team as England was eliminated from the 2019 UEFA Nations League semi-final stage.
