Liverpool set to win the race for Porto Player Luis Diaz

Liverpool is reportedly set to win the race to sign Porto attacker Luis Diaz this month.

The Colombia international was understood to have been a January target for Tottenham Hotspur, who also appears set to lose the signing of Adama Traore to Barcelona.

However, Liverpool has long been linked with a move for Diaz as uncertainty remains over the long-term futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at Anfield.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool is set to beat Tottenham with the signing of Diaz, with a fee that could reach 60m euros (£50m) with add-ons included.

The 25-year-old is understood to have an €80m ($66.6m) release clause in his current deal with Porto, with the report adding that he hopes to move to Anfield despite interest from Spurs.

Diaz has scored 16 goals and assisted six more in 28 appearances in all competitions this term, including 19 contributions in 18 Primeira Liga outings.

The former Barranquilla man is currently on international duty with Colombia, who will resume their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Peru on Friday.
