Bruno Guimaraes to undergo Newcastle United medical ahead of £30m move

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly set to undergo a medical with Newcastle United in Ecuador before potentially joining the Magpies in a £30m deal.
The 24-year-old’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Juventus linked with a move during the January transfer window.

However, Newcastle appears to have become favorites for the playmaker, with Eddie Howe’s side reportedly agreeing a £30m fee with Lyon for signing him.

According to The Athletic, Guimaraes will undergo medical in Ecuador, where he is on international duty, before signing a contract with the Premier League club.

The midfielder has provided six assists in 25 appearances for Lyon during the 2021-22 campaign, while he has represented the French team on 71 occasions since he arrived from Athletico Paranaense.

Guimaraes is said to be interested in a move to Newcastle despite being aware of potential interest from Arsenal and Juventus, with the Magpies expected to offer him a large salary.
