Manuel Neuer Club Career

Schalke 04

Neuer played for Schalke 04 II in 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009. Neuer moved up through the age groups at his home club, Schalke 04, and became a pro in 2005. During the 2005–2006 season, Neuer did not play for the first team at all.

He played his first game in the Bundesliga with Schalke on matchday 2 of the 2006–07 season. He came in as a substitute for an injured Frank Rost. Rost was dropped for the game against Bayern Munich, which was a surprise. The 20-year-old eventually won the starting spot. Neuer was able to tie the defending champions with a score of 2–2.

During the 2006–07 season, he played in 27 games. Even though he was young, he was thought to be a possible replacement for Jens Lehmann on the German national team in the future.

Bayern Munich

Neuer moved to Bayern Munich on June 1, 2011, and signed a five-year deal with the team on the same day. Some Bayern fans were angry that Bayern bought a goalkeeper from Schalke, so they were hostile toward Neuer. WC 2014
