Megan Rapinoe Early Life

Megan Anna Rapinoe (born July 5, 1985) is a winger for the NWSL’s OL Reign and the US national team. Megan Rapinoe Club Career

WPS 2009–2011

The Chicago Red Stars selected Rapinoe second overall in the 2009 WPS Draft for the inaugural season of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS), the top US soccer league. She started 17 of 18 Red Stars games for 1,375 minutes. Rapinoe scored two and assisted three. She played in the 2009 WPS All-Star Game against Swedish Damallsvenskan winners Umeå IK.

She started 19 of 20 Red Stars games in 2010. One goal. After the Chicago Red Stars folded, Rapinoe joined Philadelphia Independence in December 2010. She played four games and scored one goal before being moved to MagicJack (previously Washington Freedom) during the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.

Lyon won 5–0 after she scored one goal in 24 minutes. She scored and assisted in Lyon’s 6–1 semi-final win over FCF Juvisy. Rapinoe became the fifth American woman to participate in a Champions League final when Lyon met VfL Wolfsburg on May 23. Lyon lost the final 1–0. Rapinoe finished her Champions League debut with five appearances, two goals, and one assist.

Rapinoe returned to Lyon in 2013–14 and scored three goals in eight games.
