The club was formed in 1926 as Associazione Calcio Napoli after the merger of the US Internazionale Napoli and the Naples Foot-Ball Club. Napoli saw relatively little success in their early years, winning their first major trophy in the 1962 Coppa Italia. Napoli then saw further success in the late 1970s (including their second Coppa Italia in 1976) and especially in the 1970s. 1980, after the club, acquired Diego Maradona in 1984.

Napoli Kit

Since Naples is a seaside city, the club’s colors have always been derived from the blue waters of the Gulf of Naples. Originally, while using the Napoli FBC name, the club’s colors implemented two shades of blue. However, since the 1920s, a singular blue hue in the form of azure has been used. Therefore, Napoli shares the nickname “Azzurri” with the Italy national team. The shade of blue has been sky blue in many cases.
