Benfica
Semedo was born in Lisbon, Nélson Semedo came through the system of youth at Sintrense before making his debut in the first team at 17. On January 12, 2012, Semedo, as well as Manuel Liz, signed five-year contracts with Benfica that became effective on the 1st of July 2012.
