Wendy Natis Club Career
Natis was first asked to play for a club by Raiza Gutiérrez, who is now the assistant manager of the Panama women’s national team. She wanted Natis to play for the women’s team of CD Universitario. Then, in February 2021, she signed with CD Plaza Amador.
Natis became a professional football player when she signed with América de Cali of the Colombian Women’s Football League in January 2022. Natis scored in the second Colombian Women’s Football League semifinal game against Deportivo Pereira, which helped her team win 2-0 and move on to the finals.
Natis won her first title with América de Cali in June 2022, after she played in both games of the Colombian Women’s Football League finals. In the first game, which they lost 2–1, she started and played all 90 minutes. In the second game, played at the Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero, they came back to win 3–1 in front of 37,100 people, a record for women’s football in Colombia.
She won the Colombian Women’s League, making her the first person from Panama to do so. Soon after that, she extended her deal with América de Cali until the end of 2022 so that she could play in the Copa Libertadores Femenina that year.
América de Cali made it to the event’s semifinals by giving up only two goals in the group stage and quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Natis’s team lost 0–1 to Palmeiras of Brazil, who went on to win the whole thing. In the match for third place, they played a team from their own country, Deportivo Cali, and beat them 5–0.
On January 4, 2023, she got another season with América de Cali.
International career
Natis played defender for the U-20 national team in a game because boss Raiza Gutiérrez told him to. Natis ended up becoming a defender for good. Natis was called to be a Panama defender at the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship.
Panama beat Canada to get to the semifinals. Natis started, but in the 45th minute, she was given a straight red card for stopping a goal with her hand in the other team’s goal area. Panama lost 0-1, and Canada got rid of them.
Natis first appeared as a senior player for her country on February 15, 2021. She played in a friendly match against Guatemala and lost 1–3.
Panama was in Group B with Canada, Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago for the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. Natis played for Panama. She played the whole game when Panama lost 0–3 to Costa Rica. In the next game, against Canada, she started but had to be taken off in the 55th minute because she was hurt.
Panama gave up a goal in the 64th minute, which led to a loss of 0–1. Natis was able to play in Panama’s last group-stage game against Trinidad and Tobago, which they won 1-0. This gave Panama three points and third place in Group B. It was enough to get them to the final round of qualifying for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the inter-confederation playoffs.
Natis started and played all 90 minutes of Panama’s 2-0 win over Papua New Guinea in the Group C semifinal inter-confederation play-off on February 19, 2023. The game was between Panama and Papua New Guinea. Natis started at left back and played all 90 minutes of Panama’s 1–0 win over Paraguay in the Group C final on February 23, 2023. This was Panama’s first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup.
