Florentin Pogba Club Career
Sedan
Pogba started his youth career playing for various clubs in Île-de-France. It was here that he caught the eye of Spanish club Celta Vigo and signed for them in 2007, though he never featured for their senior team. After spending two seasons in Celta’s youth ranks, he had a trial with Sedan in August 2009.
After a successful trial, he joined the Sedan affiliate and, after one season at the affiliate, signed his first professional contract in March. 2010. On November 20, 2010, Pogba made his first appearance for the first team in a 2-0 win against amateur team FC Steinseltz in the French Cup. A few months later, on February 5, 2011, he made his league debut in a 1-0 loss against Boulogne.
Saint Etienne
On the last day of the 2012 summer transfer window, Pogba was transferred to AS Saint-Étienne for a fee of €500,000. He was then immediately loaned out to Sedan for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. After returning to Saint-Étienne in 2013, he initially struggled to break into the team in his first season with the club. He scored his first goal for the club on December 3, in a 2-0 win against Montpellier HSC.
By this time, he had well and truly established himself as the club’s first-choice central defender, displacing former Saint-Étienne defender Loïc Perrin. Pogba was seriously injured while on international duty with Guinea. Initially, it was feared that he would miss the rest of the season, but he returned against Nice on matchday 36 of the season.
Gençlerbirliği
In January 2018, after 86 appearances and 3 goals for Saint-Étienne, Pogba was transferred to Turkish club Gençlerbirliği on a short-term contract. On May 6, 2018, Pogba was involved in a confrontation with his teammates during a crucial game against Antalyaspor. Gençlerbirliği trailed 0-1 when Pogba limped off the field and removed his shirt in the 88th minute.

Atlanta United
In January 2019, Pogba went on trial with the Spanish Second Division club Elche. He impressed during his trial and was set to sign for the club, but a registration issue prevented him from signing.
A month later, Pogba signed for Major League Soccer side Atlanta United FC, following a pre-season session with the team. He made his first-team debut in a 1–0 win against the Vancouver Whitecaps on 16 May.
He started and played the full game as Atlanta posted its fifth clean sheet, winning all 5 games in the process, setting a new MLS record. In the 2019 Champions Cup against Club América on August 14, Pogba scored a penalty for Atlanta that was converted by Josef Martínez and sealed a 3–2 victory.
In the US Open Cup final against Minnesota United on August 27, Pogba played centre-back as Atlanta won 2–1 and secured their second trophy of the season.
On November 21, it was announced that Atlanta had declined the option to extend Pogba’s contract through the 2020 season due to uncertainty surrounding the CBA, meaning he became a free agent.
Sochaux
On 18 May 2020, it was announced that Pogba had signed a three-year contract with Ligue 2 side Sochaux, pending a physical.
ATK Mohun Bagan
On 24 June 2022, Indian Super League club ATK Mohun Bagan completed the two-year signing of Pogba. He made his debut for the club on 20 August against Rajasthan United in the 131st edition of the Durand Cup as his team lost the match 3-2.
International career
Michel Dussuyer handed Pogba his first cap for the Guinean national team ahead of a friendly match against Mali on 11 August 2010. He made his international debut in the second half of the match, helping his team to a 2–0 victory.
Nine months later, Pogba accepted the call-up to play for the France under-20 team at the 2011 Toulon Tournament. Pogba was allowed to do this because FIFA regulations allow players with dual nationality to change their allegiance if they still they have not played a competitive match for a country, which they had not yet done with Guinea. France reached the final, but lost to the Colombia under-20 team 3-1 on penalties; Pogba was one of three French players to miss his penalty.
On 24 March 2013, Pogba pledged his international future to Guinea and played his first official match for them in a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Mozambique. After struggling to play regular club soccer in the 2013-14 season, he too struggled to make the Guinean squad. However, after working his way through the Saint-Étienne team the following season, he was able to return to his place in the Guinean national team.
