Mauricio Pochettino wants Harry Kane to join him at Man Utd if is manager job

Harry Kane could reunite with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino if the Argentine leaves Paris Saint-Germain to take charge of Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino remains one of the main candidates for the Manchester United job, and he is expected to push for the club to sign Harry Kane if he takes over at Old Trafford.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Pochettino led Spurs to the Champions League final with Kane in attack, as well as securing multiple top-four finishes in the Premier League, and new reports suggest there could be a reunion. on the cards.

With United looking at various management options, including Spain manager Luis Enrique, there is no guarantee that Pochettino will take over when caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick steps down at the end of the season.

However, if the current Paris Saint-Germain boss is chosen to take the reins, a move for Kane could be a welcome sight with an aging front line that may need to be replaced at Old Trafford.

According to The Telegraph, Pochettino is determined to urge the United hierarchy to move for Kane if he is given the manager’s job on a permanent basis.

The England captain came close to joining Manchester City over the summer, only for a move to fail to materialise, and he endured a rough few months in the Premier League before regaining form himself under Antonio Conte.

Kane has 15 goals in all competitions this season, though just five in the league, and remains a long way from the career-high 41 he achieved under Pochettino in the 2017-18 season.

In November, he revealed the breakneck start to the season, just a month after England’s Euro 2020 final disappointment, leaving him with little time to digest the events of the summer.

“Obviously we play a lot of games throughout the year and there’s not a lot of time to recover and reflect on things,” he said.

“Any chance that you can get into that training camp, work on some stuff, get back to what you know best is important. That’s definitely what I tried to do.”

United have yet to make a permanent appointment as manager after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, with Rangnick taking the reins until the end of the season.

The German will take on a consulting role once a new manager is brought in, and Pochettino remains a contender despite only taking over at PSG in January 2021.

Zinedine Zidane has been linked with the top job in Paris, and Pochettino has responded that his current club is linked with a man he considers a “great manager”.

“He can train any coach in the world. Besides, he is French. That is one more question for the sports director or the president,” Pochettino told Cadena SER when asked about it.

“Look, when Zinedine Zidane was at Real Madrid, how many rumors did not come out of me [when he was] in England?

When we take over a club with the visibility of PSG, we know that comes with the job.”
