Ajax fails to agree on a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for Steven Bergwijn

Ajax fails to agree on a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for Steven Bergwijn. Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly decided to hire the services of Dutch international Steven Bergwijn.

While the winger has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, only four starts have been in the Premier League.

That has sparked interest from elsewhere, including Ajax, who have been keen to strike a permanent deal with their compatriots in north London.

However, according to journalist Mike Verweij, Spurs head coach Antonio Conte has insisted that he wants to retain the 24-year-old’s services.

Ajax is also said to be unwilling to meet Bergwijn’s €25m (£20.88m) valuation, a fee that was inevitably raised due to the player’s performance against Leicester City earlier this month.

Bergwijn scored twice in added time to give his team an extraordinary 3-2 win at the Foxes.
