Newcastle United complete Bruno Guimaraes signing
Newcastle United has completed the signing of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Lyon.
The 24-year-old, who will wear shirt number 39 at St James’ Park, is moving to the Magpies for an undisclosed fee, believed to be worth around £30m.
Guimaraes becomes Newcastle’s third signing of the January window, following in the footsteps of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.
The fee is believed to be enough to see the Brazil international displace Wood as Newcastle’s second most expensive signing of all time, behind only Joelinton.
“Bruno is a hugely exciting talent and has been one of our main targets so I am delighted to secure him. He strengthens the group immediately and is ready for the challenge ahead,” a statement from manager Eddie Howe read.
“He has been one of the standout players in France and is a full international for Brazil, so I have no doubt our fans will really enjoy watching him. We look forward to welcoming him back to the club when he returns from international duty.”
