Borussia Dortmund to offer club-record contract to persuade Erling Braut Haaland to stay

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly preparing a club-record financial package to try to persuade Erling Braut Haaland to stay with the club beyond next summer.

The 21-year-old is one of the most sought-after forwards in world football, with players such as Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid interested in serving him.

Dortmund will face an uphill battle to keep their star striker when their £ 64m buyout clause kicks in in the summer of 2022.

However, Bild reports that BVB is looking to come up with a club-record contract offer to convince Haaland to stay at Signal Iduna Park.

The report adds that Dortmund is willing to double the Norwegian’s salary to around £ 260,000 per week, while a bonus of up to £ 6.7 million provided by Dortmund’s backers Puma will also be included in its financial package.

Talks between Dortmund representatives, Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, and the forward’s father, former Manchester City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, will begin in the New Year, and the final decision on his future will be decided at the end of February.

Haaland has been in sensational form in front of goal once again this season, scoring 19 times in just 16 appearances for BVB in all competitions.
