Scott Paul Carson (born 3 September 1985) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Manchester City in the Premier League.
Carson joined Leeds United’s academy in 2002, making his full Leeds first-team debut against Manchester United in February 2004. In January 2005, he moved to Liverpool for a fee of £750,000 and was called up for the England senior team that same year. . Club Career
Leeds United
Scott Carson was born in Whitehaven, Cumbria on 3 September 1985. He grew up in Cleator Moor and attended Ehenside School. He was a promising rugby league player in his youth but he chose to focus on football and played goal for his school’s team starting at “about 11 or 12.”
He quickly rose through the youth team at Cleator Moor Celtic and was invited to join the men’s football team as a player when he turned 15. After impressing Peter Hampton, a former Leeds defender, he joined Leeds United‘s football academy in July 2002. He had previously played for non-league Workington in FA Youth Cup.
After spending less than a full year at the academy, he spent half a season in the reserves and made his first-team debut in January 2004 as a substitute for Paul Robinson against Middlesbrough. He made his full debut two weeks later against Manchester United in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. In May 2004, he also made one more appearance against Chelsea in the 2003-04 season.
In May 2004, Robinson left Leeds and Leeds and signed Neil Sullivan, a Scottish international goalkeeper, to compete with Carson for a place in the first team.
