AC Milan edge ahead of Newcastle United in Sven Botman race?

AC Milan have reportedly stepped up their efforts to secure a deal for Lille defender Sven Botman.
During the January transfer window, Milan and Newcastle United were keen to sign the Dutch international, but Lille delayed the deal until the summer.

Magpies co-owner Amanda Staveley claimed last week that the centre-back was still considering a move to St James’ Park before 2023.

However, according to Calciomercato, Milan have responded by accelerating contract negotiations with the 22-year-old, aware that there may also be interest from other sides.

The report states that the Series A title contenders have made significant progress in negotiations over personal terms with Botman.

As it stands, neither club have agreed a fee with Lille, but the French side are said to be keen to cash in on Botman, a suspected Tottenham Hotspur target, as the Champions League season to come. seems highly unlikely.
